ECONOMICAL - Lighter framing and footings, reduced height of masonry walls due to the shallow depth of Joists and Joist Girders and the high load capacity to weight ratio of joists and girders provides economy allowing larger bays, lower erection costs and more useable floor area.
EASE OF ERECTION - Each unit
can be quickly and efficiently erected. Panel point arrangement
of joist girders automatically indicates location of steel joist
purlins eliminating field layouts and measurements. Joists and Joist
Girders have centers of gravity located below support point eliminating
any possibility of overturning when set in place.
LIGHTWEIGHT - The span to weight ratio is considerably less than other types of construction.
CONCEALMENT OF PIPES AND DUCT WORK - Open Web Joists and Joist Girders permit a ready passage for pipes, heating conduits, ducts, etc., within the depth of the member.
ROOF DRAINAGE - Adequate roof drainage can be provided by using the standard pitched top chord (1/8" per foot) for Longspan and Deep Longspan series Joists.
